Blog Assignment 2

Heatwave radiator
Joris Laarman, The Netherlands, 2003
‘Polyvalent’Modernism
The heatwave radiator designed by Joris Laarman is a stunning example of modern sensuous design and the continuing curve. Laarman, from the Netherlands, designed a product in 2003 which took on a classic look but modern style. The Heatwave Radiator is a result of a byoge Baroque era when attention to detail meant everything.  Designed mainly  for more efficient heating, Laarman also had other ideas in mind. He wanted to make a conventional heater, but add a touch of delicacy and edge to such a design, one that the buyer would not want to hide. The emotions connected with an interior piece of design like this needs to be taken into mind, and Laarman connects with these emotions through the way he uses curves. For a modern designer, taking on such a unique look would seem almost genius, but risky. However this style comes from centuries ago and is a timeless design style.
